Started my first day of Couch to 5K. It felt great! I think this will be the program that will finally get me into running mode. I can walk all day, but I've never been able to run for more than a few seconds at a time. So proud of myself! Now I just have to keep going.

congratulations!!!! i just finished day 1 week 3 this morning.. i'm up to a mile now! i couldn't run more than a minute before and i'm up to 15!!.. you will do great!

Wow, I'm impressed! I need to jump on that program too! I would LOVE to run but am so concerned about my knees. Is it a DVD? Fill me in. Love your enthusiasm:) Keep it going!!

@Tammy, no DVD required. Just go to www.coolrunning.com and look for the Couch to 5K program and it will give you a breakdown of a 9-wk training schedule that aims to get you running 3 miles in 2 months.

its basically a workout schedule that slowly prepares you to beable to run the 3.1 miles ...its about 30 minutes 3 times a week and each week pushes u a little farther till week 9 u are jogging 30 minutes. before i even joined the c25k challenge i had started experimenting with jogging .. and when i started i could only jog one block.. not around it.. just one side..lol.. now i just jog around my block 3 to 4 times... its incredible.. i was worried about my ankle and shin since i've had a shin splint before as well as a broken ankle like 19 years ago that has always worried me.. as long as u have good shoes (payless, champion, 35 bucks).. u will be fine.. the training is made to progress u into a runner.

also if u have an app ready phone or ipod, u can download the c25k app, it will let u listen to ur music but prompt u when to run and when to walk..

it was freakin great.. i used it this morning for the first time.. i was jogging to Gyptian, had a hard time not dancing.. thought that woudl be weird to my neighbors at 6:30 am..lol

LOL! I was just letting the timer count up to 20 min, but having to keep looking at it is kind of distracting. I can't wait! So how do you space out the 3 days Naiomy?

bc the challenge started on a tues, i started on a tues.. so i do tues, thurs, and sat as my 5k training days... mon, wed, sun as my jog/walk days (atleast 30 mins).. and friday is my weigh in day.. so i take it easy by doing a workout on my wii fit plus..

Wow, you're doing great exercising 7 days/wk! I usually try to get something in everyday too because if I take a day, it's so easy to take 2 days...and then 3...lol. So I just try to do SOMETHING everyday whether it be elliptical, exercise DVD, walking with the kids, etc. Works most of the time, but when I do skip a day, I have to really discipline myself to get up and get going the following day...

that's why i work out everyday lol.. it started when i had my first gain after my diet (in my history u can see that damn red arrow lol) and i did end up being my TOM.. but i took that crap personal.. and made myself work out... now i don't feel right if i don't do it.. i wake up at like 5:45 am every morning.. wknds i might wake up at 6 or 6:30am.. but i love it now..

Wow guys I just googled the c25k! Sounds great but I am scared to death running in my neighborhood. I do not live in a very good area! What should I do? I would love to try this program.

i don't live in the best area.. but working out at 6 am everything is quiet.. if not see if u can drive to a close by park..
