Happy Solstice, my Best Buddies:

The shortest day and the longest night...which means we will begin getting more light after tonight!

Foot surgery went well except for extreme nausea from oxycodone - I cannot handle it so we switched to hydrocodone which has less of a hit of opiates. I am not a fan of pain medications but this surgery requires pain management since they cut bone. I am going to work today but can have my foot elevated and my dear husband is driving me.

I am still logging all the good, bad and ugly foods through the holidays! It is preventing me from going too overboard!

Glad your surgery went well. When I had my foot surgery it was 3 weeks before I could wear the boot...

Thank you all for the well wishes! I am getting around well since the boot is angled and all the weight goes on my heel so the toe is elevated. At work I have my foot up on a stool all day so is going well.

Good to see you've made such great progress since I was last on here (as your buddy with the username 'startrekker'). Huge sympathies though with the foot surgery. I went through something similar myself in May last year; that boot looks mighty familiar :-( Still, at least you've got the holidays to chill out! All the very best.

I saw this post highlighted earlier and was going to comment on it but was interrupted before I could write. Instead, I sent you a buddy request so I would not forget to respond. Like many of my other buddies, one thing caught my eye which I found interesting then I had to read more and more and more - lol. I've had a few surgeries and some hardware along with shrapnel buried beneath my skin over the years. Just a quick tip when taking hydro or oxy or many other types of pain meds - eat first. Glad that your surgery went well. Some people don't realize how serious it is whenever they open you up. There have been a lot of people who have gone in for "simple" procedures and ended up with things going very bad. My first wife was a surgical nurse and some of the stories she had from a bad day at work are enough to make anyone who is thinking about having elected surgery think twice and even 3 times. I hope you have a great Christmas and a better New Year.
