Depends how bad it is but things like stretching and walking can actually help. And weirdly for me sweeping and mopping. I guess cause I'm bent over.

The first two/three days I do absolutely nothing and I don't feel guilty. Not working out for those couple of days won't change your progress hun don't worry about it at all .

I'm actually experiencing shark week rn..I normally just go by how I feel... Yesterday was day 1 and I walked quite a lot and it helped ease the pain as well as some of the bloating.
I'd say do what you can...it can actually help you feel a bit better and alleviate other PMS symptoms...Even if it's stretching.

I recently found out that most women perform better at exercise when on their periods due to the kind of hormones present in our bodies - we’re apparently able to increase endurance and have better recover times. For that reason I do workout consistently when it’s my time of the months. I do take it easy when I’m ovulating though, because endurance and strength is generally at an all time low (also according to science) and I really do feel this for myself! Of course everybody is different though! There is an amazing period tracking app called Wild.ai that I use that was developed by a female scientist and athlete that lets you know what times in your cycle your body would perform optimally for exercise. It’s really really helped me in my exercise journey.

i'm the opposite. It's like my body want to work out when i'm on my period. But the cravings are crazy though.

also agree with Water weed. I'm ovulating now and I literally have to force myself to exercise

I guess it really depends on how you feel. My cramps get worse if I work out on the first two or three days of my period I get such terrible nausea . So I just relax during those days , have steaming hot showers and I drink lots of warm zero calorie liquids.

Definitely! Many people think working out has to be vigorous and high intensity but it can be strength training with dumbbells, walking or focused training on 1 specific area, for example, glutes which I find much more gentle than pure cardio for instance. This generally works for me.

It's interesting - I read somewhere (but can't say where) that as a female your capacity for gaining muscle is actually highest while on your period as a result of the drop in estrogen (or progesterone, I can't remember). So it's a good motivator actually in my opinion - greater muscle mass means a higher metabolic rate means you can burn more calories just by having more muscle vs fat.
If you really feel horrible though no one is going to blame you so it really depends on you ❤️

What I do is usually do a short jog instead of my regular distance or I'll do low intensity warm ups instead of full exercises
