I have a new strategy for snacking that I'll call the "How Bad Do You Want It?" strategy. I know that those Skinny Cow Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream sandwiches in the freezer are 140 calories, so if I think I can't live without one then I have to "buy" the calories, meaning I have to walk on the treadmill until I've burned enough calories to "buy" the snack IN ADVANCE. No credit here, cash & carry only. Last night I was on the treadmill shouting to my husband, "I'm almost to a fudgesicle.....fudgesicle passed, coming up on the ice cream sandwich...." It makes for an entertaining way to pass time, if nothing else!

And the thing is, by the time I had walked enough to earn the ice cream sandwich, I changed my mind. I wasn't going to let all that hard work go to waste....or more accurately, go to waist.

Hehe. I do that too. I have a few exercise programs for my xbox Kinect, and they all tally calories burned. So while I'm doing the routines, I'm mentally tallying what credit I've earned ("That's enough for the post-workout shake...and that's the pre-workout banana...now we're into deficit, finally...one more hour, and I can afford that beer") Realizing how much ass-busting goes into each treat makes me think long and hard about how badly I really want them :)

I follow a plan like this too. After all the workouts those cookies I was craving just doesn't seem worth it lol.

It was really handy while at an office luncheon on Monday. They were passing around slices of chocolate cake, and I looked at it and realized that cake was the equivalent of an hour on the treadmill--and it wasn't even a great cake! Just wasn't worth it to me.

that is a good way to overcome the cravings. I am very blessed, I do not ever crave sweets. But for nuts or chips, I weigh them out. Then put the container away. If that container is in front of me. I will empty it...
