I had a scary day. My friend's mom called me concerned about her son. She thought he needed to get a ride to the hospital. I got there and saw him so frail and devoid of energy, it was scary. We got him to the hospital and found out his blood sugar was over 700! He could have went into a coma. None of his family members had diabetes. He's never had diabetes symptoms in the past, so we thought. Apparently a few months ago he started having extreme thirst and frequent urination, a sign of diabetes. We're greatful he's in the hospital and getting the care he needs, but this is a huge shock nonetheless. I wanted to share this though in case any of you have been concerned about this yourself. Diabetes can make itself known quite suddenly. It's always worth getting tested. Apparently a large percent of people in the world are pre-diabetic...
