I think the forensic stuff sounds very cool... but not sure I could do it. Great pics.

Forensic Pathology sounds interesting and challenging, good luck! Love the pictures, you have a sharp eye. Early happy birthday wishes, enjoy your little break!

Thank you! Yes, I'm both excited and nervous about forensics. In all honesty, I picked it because it makes me nervous. Working on "embracing" discomfort instead of avoiding it...which sounds great, but we'll see how that works in practice eh? 😅

One of the young docs I used to work with told me that in his forensics/autopsy rotation he pulled back the sheet on his cadaver and it was his dad!!! The guy walked out on his family years before (alcohol and drugs) and he hadn’t seen him since. Wouldn’t that just blow you away.? You get used to it. I trained at County USC in Los Angeles. We student nurses would take our lunches up to the amphitheater and watch the autopsies while we ate. We were blessed with no odors but it was fascinating to watch. Heck, everything is probably “virtual” now.

When I was in the police academy, we had a forensic pathology presentation by the medical examiner at the morgue. It was very informative and interesting to learn about the many different types of entry wounds and causes of homicide deaths. The information was helpful for sure.

We had a similar presentation earlier in medical school! It got me interested in learning more.

Yea, I obviously love this stuff too. Working in the ER we would get GSW in and you could look at the wounds and almost tell exactly what happened.

Good luck on this rotation. Never realized you could smell blood until I saw my first necropsy.. There is always something new and eye opening in the medical field.
