Good morning everyone, welcome to May! A fresh springy start. Beautiful day here, but I'll be spending my afternoon at my maternity nursing clinical orientation. I'm getting nervous as clinicals approach so hopefully orientation will get rid of some of that anxiety by clarifying some of the unknown. I'm an anxious person by nature, and the only way to get past that is to pave a path straight through it.

Started off my morning with a trip to the gym. With the weather being so nice I was tempted to just take a long walk with the dog but i felt like I needed a more intense workout. Proud of myself for sticking with that. Nothing wrong with a good walk, mile per mile the calorie burn is the same, but sometimes I just need the intensity. Helps with the anxiety too. I tried out my gyms new tread climber, just like the ones you see in the infomercials. Whew, that thing will kick your ass! On incline 2 walking at under two mph my heart rate was in the 160's. A very tricky piece of equipment to get the hang of too. I can see a lot of people falling off of that one. I only lasted ten minutes because it was very hard on the knees, and I have knee issues. Trying to preserve those joints as long as possible without surgical intervention so I'll just stick with my lower impact workouts.

My primary goal for May is to not have any 'cheats'. Now I don't mean that I wont have a cupcake on my sons birthday next Friday, because I definitely will, and I cant guarantee I won't go out to dinner at some point, but I don't want to have any more cheat meals/days where I just stop recording and throw in the towel. For the next thirty one days I want to stay one hundred percent accountable and for the most part within my RDI. Didn't lose much in April and I want to make up for it in May if I can. (body willing, of course) I'm going to make goal weight this year (146lb), hell or high water.

Feeling good in the self image department. Gotta keep that rolling!

With everything going on for you in April it is amazing that you lost any weight at all. And it sounds like May is off to a great start! BTW - smart move at the gym. Keep up the good work.

That is a great goal!! If you plan for the dinner out or the cupcake, then it isn't a cheat because you already have it in the plan. Good luck with your orientation and your May goal!! :)
