Well FS friends, it seems as though I have hit a plateau of sorts. I have lost (in total, including a few pounds before joining here) about 24 pounds. For the last couple of weeks it seems as though I keep dropping and gaining the same three pounds on a daily basis. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or how much I exercise. I've had days well below my RDI where I KNOW I burned upwards of 700 calories for exercise, and then days where I have eaten much more, but it's weird. I will weigh in one day and be down to 161, then the next day 163 then the next back to 161 or 160, over and over and over. I just can't seem to break this last few pounds to get into the 160's. I stopped drinking wine and beer for a few weeks to see if that changed anything, and honestly...it didn't really. Now, I'm sure some of you may look at my food journal and try to go off of that, but honestly, it's not always accurate because some of the things I eat aren't in here so I substitute for things with the same calories or whatever. I'm not really complaining per se, I know everyone hits a plateau at some point, I just find it a little irritating I guess. I am going to amp up my exercise and try eating a little cleaner. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yes Terry, they are. Thank you! I am not going to obsess, I am just going to concentrate on eating whole foods and things I know my body likes. I think concentrating only on calories in verses calories out can sometimes lead to self-sabotage. Sometimes it really is WHAT you eat. For example: A 100 calorie snack pack of Oreo cookies is not as good as a banana even though the calories are similar. I think I have eaten too much processed stuff lately. I stopped doing that a while back and I was losing consistently, but I got a little lazy and started adding it in a gain a little at a time. Choosing whole foods may not always be the most enticing or easiest option, but I think it's what I need. Have a great weekend Buddy!

II made a big shift in my diet a bit ago and it helped get me off a crazy plateau. I think our bodies just get used to what we are doing and we have to change it up. At the base it is calorie in calorie out but the choices in those calories make a huge difference in how healthy you are and how you feel. If you work out a lot its very important to eat well. You have done well. Good luck!

Hang in there, if you never give up you will never lose the battle.

Have you considered increasing you calorie intake by a couple hundred a day? Good calories like that banana vs oreo you're talking about. The last time I had lost quite a few pound and plateaued that was my culprit. I was burning more than I was eating but in a bad way. My body had started going into starvation mode and hanging on to everything I gave it. I went from around 1200 to 1500 calories day and lost 3 of those plateaued pounds the first week. It was like starting all over again! This go around, I haven't gotten to my plateau part yet so it may be different this time, but it may be something to consider.

Thought I posted a comment yesterday.....but oh well. Had a good two days on DASH diet and walked 1 hour today to get ready for my challenge on May 4th.

Plateaus make me want to yell at the scale (I've been the same weight for 9 days now), but you're doing fine. Fresh fruit is as sweet as cookies, so I second your swap. Just get the sugary snacks out of the house altogether (the whole family should be eating fruit, too, right?) and the bad choice is eliminated. I swear by fresh fruit for breakfast every morning.
