It's fast day! HUA!

Cold, rainy, cosy Cape Town today, so perfect for the pot of butternut soup (plus cabbage and spinach) I had planned.

Wish me luck (that I don't get too hungry!)

If it's allowed on your fasting days drink coffee, it's an appetite suppressant, works for me every time.

Snezica is right, coffee is an appetite suppressant and is allowed during fasting but dont add sugar and a splash of milk is fine. I use 15ml of Clover Full Cream Fresh milk in mine wit no sugar or sweetener. Nescafe Classic is 0 calories :D

Interesting about coffee! Thanks for sharing guys. Looks like my natural inclination on fast days to only drink coffee until lunch time is not so bad after all. :) I find what works well too is to keep distracted on fast days. I'm a stay at home mum at the moment and not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but I'm managing to avoid my fridge on fast days! Have had a good day so far today. My partner is supportive of my fast days and was happy to eat soup with me for lunch. Went out for a skinny cappuccino and stayed out till 2pm to avoid my fridge. Then prepared my soup, so first meal was around 3pm. Just had my dinner, another bowl.

If you need something low calorie to add some crunch to your soup, try the Baker's Crackerbread Maize Toast(I think they have rebranded to Pro-Vita now). They are just 56 Calories for 2 slices so that's 28 Calories each. Ideal for somebody who is trying to avoid wheat gluten.

Ah. Sounds great! Thanks. I did miss a bit of a crunch yesterday and I think I ate under my calories. I'm not trying to avoid wheat, but on a fast day I must say I am aiming for mainly eating veg as despite being a vegetarian, I'm not too good on eating all the veggies I need on a daily basis. Therefore, a bit of an anti-oxidant boost on fast days. I feel great this morning and think I'll push my fast to midday. My weight sadly has not gone down, but I'm not going to get bogged down for it. :(

Don't obsess over the weight on the scale. Always take an official weight reading on the same day of each week but do it early in the morning after using the loo. Weighing yourself everyday will show u readings that fluctuate up and down and thats normal but keeping an official reading every 7 days will give you a proper indication of progress.
