Busy reading 'The Fast Beach Diet' by Mimi Spencer, Michael's sidekick and essentially it's the WOL you've been following! 5:2 - just a little more disciplined than the standard 5:2 - i.e. trying 4:3 and so forth. Get your hands on a copy if you can - more for interest, because you're doing it already :) I'm keen to go 4:3 from now till the end of the year as I have a beach holiday to look forward to. Unfortunately (fortunately!) I'm away on a girls weekend in the winelands this weekend, so it's going to be today and Thursday. I'm doing the fasting till midday thing now too. So yesterday I only ate after 2pm I think it was.

That's awesome :) its working for me :) So much more to tweak but its still so effective and I'm not even trying hard :)

You guys are killing me. It's been a while since I've done a full day fast. I'm not sure I can say I'm excited by the idea. I do enjoy the accomplishment of having done it though.

NorthernMusician you can still eat tons of food and remain in a state of fasting of 600 calories :) You just have to make meals using low calorie foods like cabbage, butternut, broccoli, cucumber, pepper, lettuce, etc. For the protein side of it, steamed chicken, chicken giblets work well. The no food fasting is a more advanced form of fasting.

Is that 600 calories per day? How are you arranging the calories? One meal? Over several? Info please. :)

Hi Northernmusician. They recommend 500 cals for females and 600 cals for males on fast days. It's best to consume these calories in one meal to ensure that one has long periods of fasting around that meal, but if you have to, it is okay to split it between two meals. It isn't recommended to 'snack' the 500/600 cals throughout the day. Eat whatever you like on the other days... That is the BASIC 5:2 diet. You can become stricter by capping your calories on non-fast days, by doing 3 fast days per week, by fasting daily till midday and so forth. Each of these additions will help one loose weight just a little faster...but BELIEVE me, doing 5:2 and only really caring about the two fast days works! It's a slow and steady process, but one definitely drops the weight.

Y002 has summed it all up nicely :) I started by following the intermittent fasting which means I only had my 1st meal of the day at midday so no breakfast translates into lower calories for the day. At midday I'd make a chicken salad using steamed chicken, lettuce, tomato, Trim(salad dressing that is lower calories than mayo), cucumber. The food ends up being a huge bowl full. Then at supper I'd make a meal with cabbage and chicken giblets. It's all flexible according to what you enjoy eating from the list of low calorie foods that you can google. Eventually I found I could push my 1st meal to 3pm then found I could skip lunch and just do 1 big supper. Start with 2 meals and see how it goes from there.
