I am hanging in there, but getting a little fidgity around certain foods. I thought the sugar free jello and cool whip would suffice, but I am still struggling. I wish the sugar free pudding didn't have so many carbs in it. Any suggestions for other things?

This was one area where I had a big problem over the past two years also. There seem to be no sugar free desserts that are low carb that really are any good. Maybe trying low carb fruits might help with sugar free Cool Whip. I also did like the sugar free puddding but found myself overeating it whenever I made it. Maybe fruit in the sugar free jello might help that bland taste. Check the Atkins site or Google low carb fruits to find out which fruits would be best to use. Watch out for the low carb ice cream or sugar free versions too - it is difficult to eat a small amount (at least for me) and if I ate a few bowls full of it the effect was like sugar free candy...

If I may...one thing I would suggest is trying to avoid artificial sweeteners, including Splenda. If you avoid splenda, aspartame, acesuflame potassium and other artificial sweeteners, eventually, your "sweet tooth" will be satisifed with some healthy berries all by themselves. Even if you eat them now or have always liked them, I have personally found that avoiding the fake sugar does wonders for reducing the urge to eat something sweet.

There are some pumpkin Induction cookies that are really good. Tons of fiber, very low net carbs. It needs liquid splenda to do it. Another tool I've heard is if you are craving sweet, go savory..so eat a pickle. I'd agree with Reddvixen, a lot of times the artificial sweetener can kick of cravings (actually, I think Dr. Atkins mentions it in his book). If you are going sweet, I'd definitely try to get fiber with it. More likely to be filling that way.

I am having the same problem...my sweet tooth is enormous and especially this time of year with all the homemade cookies and treats in my face. I have bought the sugar free jello gelatin but haven't made it yet. I was told that we are allowed 3 sugars per day during Induction and that 1 serving of the jello is equal to 1 serving. I also have splenda in my tea and a good cup of tea seems to get rid of the sweet craving. I am staying focused since this is the only "diet" that has worked for me os far. Five days in and I have lost 6 lbs. Very exciting. Good luck to you and remember if you fight the craving it eventually goes away.

Suemi, Try this when you are craving sweet. See if it fits the bill. Flaxseed cracker. (1/4 C. ground/milled flaxseed, 1T parmesan, garlic & onion power (1/4t), and water until its a thick paste/dough. Flaten and put in microvwave for 2 minutes. Take out, turn over and cook for another minute. Spread with cream cheese. Incredibly healthy, yummy treat that is pretty sweet with the cream cheese. It also has about 9 grams of fiber, so it is incredibly filling and good for you. -Also helps if you are missing the crunch of a cracker.
