The gym has become my life. I have been working so hard; strength training like never before.
Whenever I weigh myself I no longer feel dismayed when I see an increase on the scale, because it is not the only measure of progress. Especially if you are working on changing your body composition.
My weight keeps fluctuating (between 65kg and 68kg) but my body composition has seen a positive change over the last month or so. I have more muscle (25.1kg) than fat (19.5kg/29.1%). Muscle weighs more than fat, therefore it is only normal that the scale number will shoot right up. Which really doesn’t bother me anymore.
Of course there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done, but I am so content with where I am… I look and feel stunning! My confidence is at an all time high, and I could look at myself in the mirror for ages because I absolutely love what I see. I’m so happy with myself.😊🫶🏽

It’s quite evident that my body can no longer survive a strict calorie deficit. I’ve started eating an average of 2000 cals per day (with calorie cycling) and I’ve been slowly shedding the weight. I’ve also recently introduced a whey protein supplement into my ‘diet’ and I’ve tried by all means to increase my daily protein intake. I could say it has made a difference.
I’m no longer looking for quick weight loss results by starving myself; which I did for the longest time in the beginning. Now I’m aiming for slow, steady weight loss because I know it’s more sustainable long term.

I ‘unintentionally’ did calorie cycling last week. And I say unintentionally because on days when I ate above my RDI I just wanted to satisfy my cravings with no restrictions; it didn’t even bother me. And when I ate at a calorie deficit, it’s only because I didn’t feel like eating much. I had no goal in mind…
Anyway, good to know that calorie cycling can be effective.

Losing weight can be ‘addictive’ (for a lack of a better word). I started taking my weight loss journey seriously at the end of January 2022 and from then to now I have lost 21,4kg. I have finally reached my weight loss goal, but over these past few days I’ve been so obsessed with pushing for 60kg, which was never part of the initial plan.
In all of this, I have not had the opportunity to reflect and marvel at how far I have come; to look myself in the mirror and appreciate the transformation that my body has gone through over a period of 8 months. I have not allowed myself to fully enjoy the growing feeling of confidence; perhaps because I feel like I can still look even better. Most importantly, I have not given myself any credit for starting this journey and finally seeing it through, for the very first time in 3 years.
Now it just feels like I’m punishing my body for all the weight it had gained over the years. And now that I’m conscious of this I acknowledge that I really need to give myself a break…
