Didn't do too great today food-wise because I went to happy hour after work but I did pretty decently all things considered. It was really nice to meet up with one of my friends, have some drinks and then go shopping. I forgot what it was like to go out after work because my schedule's been so crazy. I have class (and class related stuff) the next three nights and probably won't be able to go out on Friday night since I have Saturday morning class so it was great to get out tonight.
I have this GIANT blister from yesterday's walk on my left heel. I finally had to puncture it tonight because it got so big that I couldn't walk on it. Part of the problem is that I had a barely healed thing on that part of my foot BEFORE I went walking so that plus a longer walk than I'm used to aggrevated things. I probably shouldn't have gone so far yesterday but I just got into the groove and it felt good so I kept going.
I might have to try the duct tape trick next time I go out but I'm going to let it heal a little before I start doing major miles on it. Anyway, I'll definitely survive.
So as part of the gratitude challenge: Today I'm grateful for:
1. A good night out with one of my best friends
2. Gainful employment (even if I'm not nuts about my current job)
3. 82 days until I graduate with my MBA
4. A warm, safe apartment of my very own

So yeah, back here again. I got horribly off-track in the past year. Life has gotten in the way, for lack of a better explanation. Being laid off, then job searching, school, finding a new (temporary job) and more school has zapped my motivation
On the upside, I do feel much better and able to handle my life (finally) so I feel I can start again here. That's one of the best things about life, really, how we can always start again and start over.
So yeah, gained almost all of the weight back, not a surprise considering that I stopped exercising, ate mostly crap and didn't sleep. I'm a little upset about it, I won't lie and say it's okay, but I'm refusing to judge myself on it. I did the best I could under the circumstances I was facing at the time and now it's time to do better.
So for those still following me and I'm not sure if there ARE any at this point. I'm in my final semester of grad school - taking class three nights a week and a few Saturday mornings, working full-time and looking for another job (I'm not nuts about the one I have) and just generally going with things. Despite it all, I'm still somewhat optimistic. I still think I can make this work and I think all of my hard work in other areas (ie, school) will pay off. I did 25 credits of my program in 2011 alone - plus working that's a LOT.
So the plan now, is to start slowly, do what I can to keep myself from being overwhelmed, because even if I can only find time once a week it's better than nothing and then in April when my classes end to be more involved and up the amount.
The number I entered is from my physical last Friday. Generally, despite my weight, I'm in pretty good health. I have a vitamin D deficiency (most likely because I live in freezing cold NJ and it's winter) and slightly elevated cholesterol but that's it. The second thing concerns me though since I have a family history of heart problems and really don't want to get to the point in ten or twenty years where I have horribly clogged arteries and multiple problems. I've been lucky so far, I know I won't be lucky forever.
