Wow!! It's almost been 3 years since I started this journey. I am down 50 pounds since then and I am feeling GREAT!!! I am not done yet. My goal is to be around 140 (with my hopes that 140 will be my new high number). I am officially a size 6 - and keep in mind that when I started I was a size 16!!
I have to say that when I started this journey I didn't see the real me. Quite frankly I still don't. I have this image of myself as being young, healthy, and full of spunk. This is the same person that I saw myself as three years ago as it is now. I look back at pictures and I really can't believe how I looked. I was really heavy, overweight, and I did not reflect the true person I am on the outside. I remember thinking that I could easily play a game of basketball with my sister - and oh how quickly I got out of breath!
These past three years have not been easy ones, but they have been necessary to expose my true self. I started this journey alone making many excuses for not working out. I first was serious about my commitment to my health in April of 2011 when I quite soda for good. I was a very heavy drinker - and I am very proud to announce my sobriety from soda to anyone that will listen. I didn't realize the harmful effects that soda has (both diet and non-diet). Once I quite the soda I had many withdrawl symptoms (I still get cravings occasionally, but then I remind myself of the toxins I would be endangering my body with if I were to consume this deadly liquid). After a few months of established sobriety I was then able to begin commiting to watching my calorie intake and consuming more wholesome fresh fruits, vegetables, organic meats and organic dairy products. I joined a gym in January of 2012 and that same month I started meeting with a personal trainer. I really love the support and feedback that I receive from my personal trainer and I continue to meet with her to this day.
I continue to struggle with my weight, and I expect that I will for the rest of my life. This journey has gotten easier. My workouts continue to progressively get harder, but in reality I don't believe that my workouts feel as hard as my initial workouts.
My message is simple - don't give up, don't give in, you can do it, you will do it!! Keep going, keep fighting for the you that is in the inside to be exposed to the world. You deserve it!

It's been a tough weekend...I worked all weekend to try to help myself avoid overeating and eating unhealthy foods. Bad choice. Work had a superbowl pot luck. YAY!!! Free food that tastes great, but is so incredibly unhealthy. I was successful at avoiding the free buffet for most of the night, but then I caved! I did not splurge too much though, and I was very mindful about choosing smaller portion sizes. I am actually pretty proud of myself that I didn't over do it like I normally would. I have decided that buffets are both good and evil simultaneously. They are the true test to healthy eating choices. :)

Still working hard on calorie counting and choosing healthy foods. Have not lost any additional weight, but I am also not exercising yet. My goal is to begin exercising on my treadmill next week. Just want to give my ankle a little more time to fully heal.
