I've just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and a heart problem and am awaiting a cardiologist appointment as I type. Therefore I need to radically improve my diet to help myself. My problems can't be cured but they can be helped. I am 69 years old and due to osteoarthritis very sedentary. I'm basically just falling to pieces 😆

Swimming is a wonderful exercise to strengthen the muscles for people with Osteoarthritis, if it’s something you’re interested in trying?
A vegan diet could do wonders for your other health needs if you’re interested in trying that too.
All the best, hope you find something to help!

I'm 67 and am a carnivore. I basically eat meat, eggs and a small amount of dairy. I've reversed diabetes, blood pressure is now normal, my eyesight has improved and many aches and pains have gone, plus I've lost weight. I was on over 10 different medications, and now I don't take any. I'm the healthiest I've been in all my adult life.
I know carnivore doesn't suit everyone, but I would recommend getting rid of all processed food from your diet, at the very least.
Do your own research and look at real people's experiences, so you can make an informed choice.
I agree swimming is a great exercise and some walking, if you can manage that.
Good luck to you with whatever you choose to do.

Hi Mutizzaza I can imaging how overwhelming this situation can be but it so great that you are actually aware of how the importance to chance your diet in order to help with your diagnosis. Well done! In my opinion positive attitude is the best start. Mediterranean diet has been quite good to manage diabetes and cholesterol I thing the most important thing is to avoid sugary things such as cakes , donnoughs, fry food . If you like have a look on Internet for more information. I wish you all the best and keep going.

As well as your diet, look at gentle exercise (I stress gentle as I don't know your heart condition!). If you can afford it, think about getting an electric bike. Forget accusations of cheating ... electric bikes are enablers, letting you get to places under (mostly) your own power that you could only have dreamed of before. I have heart failure but I still ride 125km a week.
