Frustrated this week. Gained another pound after adding healthy fats. The science of losing weight is not as easy as most people think. It's not just eating low calorie and exercising that make you lose. That is only part of it. I've been eating low calorie and exercising regularly for the last 3 months. I have slowly stopped loosing and during a 4 day break from dieting gained 7 pounds and am having a heck of a time getting it off. Going from 1200 calories to 1800 calories has been difficult as I don't have enough room in my stomach to eat high quantities of food. I'd say the foods I am eating are nutrient rich but my body doesn't seem to want to let go of the excess. I am not going to give up but it sure is discouraging.

I understand that! I had alot of fluctuation with Atkins which scared the hell out of me. The grains can cause problems (quinoa, couscous), maybe try cutting those out for a week & see how you do?

Those were actually added purposefully. My nutritionist said I wasn't getting enough grains and to add grains to my lunch and dinner. This was my first week with the purposeful grains and fats. I will have to wait two full weeks of 1800 calories then we (my nutritionist and I) will change my diet to carb cycling.

Can I ask why you increased your calories intake to 1800?

My nutritionist said that I needed to. My metabolic rate is a little over 1800 so he thinks that my body has gone into starvation mode. I am sure I've been eating well over 3000 calories a day for the last 12 years. Went from 130 to 240 then up to 278 when I was full term with my kids. Nearly all carbs and very little protein in my diet. I am going through a metabolic weight-loss program with a personal trainer and nutritionist. It's just very frustrating when things don't work as you think they should.
