I am feeling strong! Last night I went for a 16 mile bike ride and pushed myself to ride strong. I was happy with my average speed as it is helps me to see that I AM stronger than last year. I'm not competing with anyone but myself.

Boot camp cycling class this morning - since there are now only 2 classes left - that was my motivator to push hard.

I've decided that I am going to treat myself to a new cycling jersey - I'm thinking of a sleevless racing back - this will be my reminder to myself that I have worked hard to loose 20 lbs and I don't want to go backwards! And it may also be an incentive to start doing some upper body strength training!

I talked to a gal in class this morning that is doing a marathon in Lincoln the first weekend of May. I can't imagine! I have recruited her to come on our women's only Tuesday night rides. Barbara - the cycling instructor and I will lead the rides. The distance will be shorter (16-20 miles or so) but they will be rides where we work on doing intervals. I do believe these are the key to increasing performance but I have never really transferred to my riding outside. Usually I train during the winter doing some intervals and then during the summer I just ride! With a goal of participating in a senior games race this year I need to do some training!

Let me know when the Tuesday night rides start - I may come down for one of them!!! I would really like to work on my performance also. I know I can go the distance now but would like to work on speed.
