Woo hoo, great weekend. I tell you what, I can't say enough good things about the tools I'm learning from the inside out weight loss podcasts you can get free from itunes. For the first time in my adult life, I feel hopeful that I can stop being obsessed with food. That's amazing progress for me, and it's all happened in the course of two weeks.

I haven't been tracking my hunger before and after meals this weekend, but I've been checking in and I haven't been overeating.

I'm making a really rich, non-diet friendly soup for dinner with friends tonight and I'm completely unconcerned. I'll have a small serving, a giant salad, a glass of wine, and a bit of dessert if I feel like it.

Went rock climbing this morning and I did really well on some problems that have been tough for me in the past. Great day so far, and I'm confident that will continue.

It's been ages since I went to the grocery store, which means theres no junk around, so that's good. I just haven't been motivated to make breakfast, even though I have everything I need to make my special, slow cooked pumpkin oatmeal. Next week. Woo hoo!

This morning, I got a coffee with cream from the 7-11 and had a balance bar. Not a model of nutrition, but not horrible either. Even though I went to bed hungryish, I wasn't hungry for breakfast. probably started at a 4 and ended up a 7. I'm having lunch with someone high up at work--very exciting. I think he's a potential mentor for me.

Lunch went well--my new pal who is high up in university administration took me to the indian cart. I got the vegetarian combo--lentils, veggies, basmati and yogurt. It was delicious. I finished most of it, but I didn't feel stuffed and sluggish. Started out a 2 on the hunger scale and ended up just beyond 8, and 8 is where I like to be.

When I got back to work, I thought about having a piece of the chocolate muffins I passed up this morning. (YAY!) They were long gone, so double yay!

I had a single piece of candy this afternoon because I was hungry and thought I was going to spin class. Spin was cancelled because of some political stuff going down over the weekend.

We went out for mexican for dinner. I was really hungry when we left. Probably a 1. Ate a few chips before my dinner came, certainly fewer than usual. I ate right around half my dinner and saved the rest. YAY! I left dinner at an 8 also.

Then I went to the climbing gym and slacklined. Great day.

I'm starting over, and I've been using the inside out weight loss podcast which is free from Itunes. I highly recommend it.

Per the recommendations of the podcast, I'm not recording my food intake, I'm committing to record my level of hunger before and after eating (and I'll document any emotions surrounding that eating.)

0 is ready to gnaw my own arm off hungry, and 10 is 2 desserts after a huge thanksgiving dinner full.

Breakfast--5 not hungry/not full. 1 cup coffee with 2 tsp sugar and soy milk, 1 cup dry honey nut cheerios and 20 almonds.

11:00--2 very hungry--didn't have my normal piece of fruit for a snack. Went to the store.

11:45-3 after going to the store. Hungry, but not starving. Had a light yogurt that was on sale. After, 6. I'm surprised at how much it filled me up.

1:30 avoided a call from an acquaintance. About a 3 on the hunger scale. Ate a 300 cal light meal. Still a 5-6 afterward, though I didn't give myself a chance to sit with my meal. Went on to eat half a balance bar, swiftly followed up with the other half. Currently an 8-9.

On my way out the door, I grabbed one atomic fireball from the office manager's desk. I was kind of hungry, maybe a 4. By the time I got home at 5:45, I was really hungry and we ate leftover spaghetti. So before, probably a 2, and after, about a 7.

By 7:30, I was hungry again. I hunted around the kitchen trying to figure out what I wanted, then I remembered the crazy orange cauliflower I bought today. I steamed that with a little thai red curry. Delicious! Right now, I'm at about an 8 on the hunger scale. Perfect.

I'm done eating for the night, and I think I'm going to make some of my pumpkin oatmeal for tomorrow.
