Yikes🤯 

He crawled right across the path and sat at the edge all coiled up At first I was pretty scared and just tiptoed away but then I thought he looked pretty cool and I ran back but he had started to go back in the underbrush by then he was pretty big head the typical triangle shaped head he was poisonous I don’t think he was a rattlesnake because I didn’t see a rattle I think he’s a copperhead 

Ohhh my goodness! Ekkk I hate snakes, frighten me ! 😳 

Concur, copperhead. I do not miss all the dangerous snakes in the South. That said, they eat vermin and I'm always good with that. We'll just stay clear of one another and both be happy.

Definitely not a rattler. Here in SoCal we have the Mohave green and the diamond back. See them on the trail frequently. This time of year is traveling and mating season. Lots of those babies crawling around. I am so careful when I hike. I stepped right over a coiled one on the other side of a log I was jumping over. Lucky so far. 

Definitely a copperhead, pretty common where I live. Cottonmouth's are way more ornery.

The only thing that creeps me out was his coloring it was this sickly red really weird pill muted color that’s the only thing that kind of creep me out I really did give me the creeps just the way his coloring was but yes boy did he ever do a good job of camaflouge

I have eaten snake a few times— both cooked and raw. Cooked they have the texture of chicken. Raw— bite and swallow..

In Texas, we have all the poisonous snakes of North America. Copperheads killed one of my goats and two of my chickens, but the chickens managed to kill the snake. My husband got the other one before more animals died. Copperheads come in pairs. 

pretty but only good snake is made into boots and a belt..

I am absolutely terrified of snakes. I had one on my front porch one time and I called 911 because I was so terrified. It was a bull snake I guess. We have lots and lots and lots of rattlers here in Arizona. I saw one coiled up one night going into the school where my daughter had a science fair. This was years ago but it's STILL fresh on my mind. And the snake on my porch, the police took away in a big bucket and released it back into the desert.
