A new day, a new week, and a new month right around the corner. I will get my eating back under control! Today I start recording food and activity. After a weekend of horrible over-eating it felt good to start the morning off with 30 minutes of core/upper body strength training, followed by 60 minutes on the bike. I long to ride my bike outside! Maybe Wednesday evening - I'll have to plan it into my week!

My arms and abs are sore - but at the same time it is a good feeling to know these muscles are getting worked. I'm taking a day off from exercise; Mon-Tues-Wed were intense with core/cycling class and time trials. Still having a hard time getting back on track with the food. I was so hungry after work and then went to a picnic to welcome 2 new docs to town. I just couldn't resist the ice cream cone with hand-dipped turtle pecan icecream. But it's all about portion control - if I have an occasional treat and don't use it as an excuse to follow it up with eating whatever I want, then I'm doing good. The hardest thing for me to let go of is the black and white, all or nothing thinking that leads to my weight yo-yoing all over, not to mention a ton of frustration. Looking forward to a trip to the beauty salon this evening to get my hair highlighted; such a treat!

Okay, I'm getting a good amount of excercise. Time trials last night, 10 miles, and I had a better time than the 20 year old swimmer/ triathlete! It wasn't a "stellar" time - I wonder if she let me win? Then spin class this morning - the spinning is a hard workout but the ab and upper body workout are the killers!
Now to get my food intake back in line. Yesterday was the 36th anniversary of our first date so my husband and I went out to eat after I got home from time trials and took a quick shower. I'm so happy my husband remembers all the little details of when we first started dating after SO MANY years!

Time to face the music and get busy recording my food intake and exercise. Although I set 150 lbs as my goal initially, I really would like to try to maintain between 142-143. I feel like I'm getting use to the busy fall schedule and now can focus on planning meals. Also, unfortunately the "big" bike rides are over; ie multiple day rides, century ride, etc. This will also help to keep my food intake more normal and consistent. Sounds like it will be a windy day but I hope to do the 10 mile time trial tonight. This will probably be my last TT as I'm usually working on the clinical campus on Tuesdays.
I would appreciate any suggestions for meal ideas, as well as recipes!

I'm off to a brand new start! Time to get the extra weight off that I gained over the summer. I was up at 4:40am, left home at 5:00pm, drove 24 miles for a 5:30am cycling/strength training class. 30 minutes of ab and upper body workout followed by 60 minutes on the bike. Due to a power outage the Dome was officially closed but our instructor said "athletes adapt." So there was only a few light from the emergency generator but no fans, no music. It was like working out in a sauna! But the people in this class are tough and inspire me, so I'm not about to whine! It was a great sweat and detox after a weekend of celebrating with lots of food and drink! My best friend's son got married; oldest daughter and husband and my adorable grandson and the dog stayed with us 2 nights, youngest daughter stayed one night. I have to say it was probably one of the funnest weekends I have had for a long time, just good to be with family and friends who feel like family. We're so happy for the new couple! In 2 weeks we get to do it all again, other good friend's daughter gets married and oldest daughter is in the wedding. I'll probably over do again - but in the mean time I plan to be good with my eating and exercise!
